Setting Sun

Taken from my house last night. Amazing sunset over Hastings.

N Y See

Sorry for the lack of posts last week but for once there’s a good reason. I spent all last week mooching around NYC, checking out art shows, catching up with friends, getting sunburned and generally sussing the place out ready for my return visit in September. Here are some photos.

Past Blasts – Memories of Japan.

Another new little feature to the blog, Past Blasts, memories of good times gone by. To start, a few photos from a trip I took to Japan back in 2008.

Sometimes I feel like…

My own throne.

In October I’ll be flying out to Gambia with 7 amazing artists (Logan Hicks, C215, Broken Crow, Will Barras, Lucy McLauchlan and Ben Eine) to undertake an epic project in which we’ll be transforming some rural villages into one beautiful piece of art. The brains behind the project is Lawrence Williams, owner of the Mandina River Lodge and the force behind the Ballabu conservation project

Luckily for me Lawrence was in town for my show in February so we hooked up for a beer and discussed the project more. Not only did he turn out to be an awesome guy, (even having tattoos by the same tattoo artist), he brought with him a present, all the way from Gambia.

My very own chair, hand carved from solid mahogany! This thing weighs an absolute ton and the lunatic actually carried it onto the plane with him and all the way to London! Here’s some pictures of Ramon carving the chair over in Gambia. Amazing stuff!

What happens when…

…I’m sick and stuck on the sofa? I hit eBay. 2 purchases this week include a badgers skull and this awesome piece of tat. Woodland themed, cushioned dinner tray. The perfect accessory for any MacBook Pro.

Urgh…

Well, as soon as I start to get myself back on my feet and ready to rock on with new work, I get slammed down with the worst bug/food poisoning ever. Sickness on a medieval level, hence no blog post yesterday.

Slowly on the mend but still unable to leave the sofa for too long. It’s good to have a nice view to keep me going.

2010, the future is now!

Well, here we are, 3rd of Jan 2010 and not a hover-board in site. And with the end of the Mayan calendar falling on 21st Dec 2012 we’ve got just under 3 years to get our shit together before the end of the world…apparently. Apologies yet again for the lack of updates to the blog, I’ve spend most of December driving up the coast of Australia which was pretty awesome. Then of course we all had to celebrate the birth of that Jesus bloke in the only way most of us know how, getting drunk, eating way too much and losing at Trivial Pursuit.

So here is the first post of the year, and what a year t’will be. Febuary the 25th sees the opening of my first London solo show ‘The Colour Out Of Space’, a collection of over 20 new paintings and a couple of new prints. This will be followed by a barrage of brand new street work both here and abroad including NYC where I’ll be taking part in 2 large projects, one of which will see myself and the mighty C215 take over the Brooklynite Gallery to put on what promises to be an awesome collaborative show. I’ve also been asked to curate a HUGE project in Gambia where I’ve chosen 7 of todays best contemporary artists to turn an entire village into what will undoubtedly be an amazing site. Not to give too much away right now but if you like the work of people like Logan Hicks, C215, Will Barras and Lucy McLauchlan, I think you need to start getting excited about this now.

The next 2 months are gonna be the toughest for me so far but I’ll try my best to keep this place updated with randomness and sneak peeks of how the work for the show is coming on so drop in from time to time. For now, here’s a few snaps from down under.

Hope you all have a great year!

5 hours of make-up…

…just to go to the pub, and this time it was me, not my girlfriend.
