I love the precision and detail I can get from shooting with my Nkon D90 DSLR but at the same time, I love throwing caution to the wind and shooting from the hip with either my Lomo LC-A+ or Diana F+ cameras. I haven’t used my Diana that much and, as you can see, I’m still trying to get to grips with the focus, but I still love the feeling of some of the out of focus shots. It’s nice to take a break from the settings of a digital and enjoy the unpredictability of the Lomo cameras.

I’ve just a few rolls developed that have been hanging around in the fridge for the last year (it always takes me ages to get round to having them developed) and here are a few randoms. I can’t remember which films I used so I really need to start getting a system for making note of what’s been used when. If anyone has any cool tips for this please feel free to leave a comment!

Slush & Sunburn

Back to work after a weeks snowboarding in La Plagne, France. A tasty dose of sunburn on my nose and mouth has made me look like a Muppet Show escapee and an unhealthy dose of booze, meat and cheese has made me feel a little under the weather. But regardless of the often slushy conditions, time on the mountain is always a beautiful thing.

I stupidly left my camera at the studio before I left but here’s a few shots from my iPhone.

Quite Simply the best table cloth I’ve ever seen.

All these were taken with the cool Instagram app for iPhone which I’m loving at the minute. Kind of like Twitter but instead of hearing about how crap people’s bus ride to work was, it’s just a stream of lovely photos from the people you choose to follow. City Slickers and Lots of Stickers.

Finally back and rested after a weeks onslaught in a blistering hot Brooklyn. Much fun was had, many French Bulldogs bothered, lots of stickers stuck and what should have been a 2 man show was turned into a solo show at the last minute. Can’t complain with that!

Thanks to everyone who came to check out the new work and party down in the yard, hope you all had an awesome time. Thanks to Rae at Brooklynite Gallery for allowing the madness to continue, Seth and Nick from Pawn Works for their awesome stickers and most importantly thanks to my man Mark from Up The Arts for his usual assistance, hard graft and moral support.

I’ve decided to teach myself the art of shooting and editing video (in the build up to bigger things), and below is my first ever production. It’s just a quick movie full of test shots taken with my Nikon D90 while we were out there, then edited together in iMovie 09. Amazed at how simple it was to put together, wouldn’t mind having a crack at Final Cut next for a more solid finish.

I’ll be putting together a different cut at some point over the next week, focusing more on the show and the work. Here’s a few shots from the night taken by the gang at Brooklynite and Clay Williams from Examiner.com

2010, the future is now!

Well, here we are, 3rd of Jan 2010 and not a hover-board in site. And with the end of the Mayan calendar falling on 21st Dec 2012 we’ve got just under 3 years to get our shit together before the end of the world…apparently. Apologies yet again for the lack of updates to the blog, I’ve spend most of December driving up the coast of Australia which was pretty awesome. Then of course we all had to celebrate the birth of that Jesus bloke in the only way most of us know how, getting drunk, eating way too much and losing at Trivial Pursuit.

So here is the first post of the year, and what a year t’will be. Febuary the 25th sees the opening of my first London solo show ‘The Colour Out Of Space’, a collection of over 20 new paintings and a couple of new prints. This will be followed by a barrage of brand new street work both here and abroad including NYC where I’ll be taking part in 2 large projects, one of which will see myself and the mighty C215 take over the Brooklynite Gallery to put on what promises to be an awesome collaborative show. I’ve also been asked to curate a HUGE project in Gambia where I’ve chosen 7 of todays best contemporary artists to turn an entire village into what will undoubtedly be an amazing site. Not to give too much away right now but if you like the work of people like Logan Hicks, C215, Will Barras and Lucy McLauchlan, I think you need to start getting excited about this now.

The next 2 months are gonna be the toughest for me so far but I’ll try my best to keep this place updated with randomness and sneak peeks of how the work for the show is coming on so drop in from time to time. For now, here’s a few snaps from down under.

If you went to Standon Calling the other week and saw this person stumbling around…

…that was me. If you didn’t go and haven’t been before I’d reccommend it. Awesome little festival, super friendly people, no crowds, chilled atmosphere and good music. Already looking forward to next years.
