My sources have told me there is one man who may have answers to this extraordinary tragedy and he is now being questioned within the safe confines of the mysterious ’secret’ underground base, known by the conspiracy community simply as, ‘The Bunker’. This man is Logan Hicks.

What is there to say about Logan that has not already been covered in the countless interviews that are already online and in print. He has been a consistent force in the stencil art movement for many years, never stopping, never sleeping, like a shark with a scalpel and an unstoppable need to create and express himself. When the rest of the world is asleep, you can almost be guaranteed that Logan is awake, working, thinking, taking photos and exploring the urban world that surrounds him.

His trademark style of incredibly detailed cityscapes, rendered in otherworldly colours have proven to all that this man isn’t just talented, he also isn’t afraid to put the hours in, his stencils taking weeks to prepare and cut, (hence the very fitting moniker Workhorse). He was one of the original artists who inspired me to cut my first stencil and I feel very privileged to now consider him a friend.

In October I’ll be flying to Gambia with Logan and 6 other artists to transform some rural villages into an open air art exhibition titled Wide Open Walls. If you can’t wait that long for new work by Logan, a group show with Lister, Michael Kalish and himself opened last night at the Opera Gallery in NYC. Here’s a video of Logan giving us an insight into the work behind that show and the importance of finding your own space within your environment.

TB: We can allow you access to 1 music video. What will it be?
LH: Wouldn’t the movie “Heavy Metal” count as one long music video?

TB: There is room on the wall for 1 piece of art. What would you like?
LH: Something by my friend Miya Ando. She makes these real tranquil steel panel pieces.

TB: There is a small bookshelf with room for 1 book. What will it be?
LH: Any porn magazine with lots of pictures. The apocalypse is a lonely place for a young man like myself

TB: You’re allowed 1 film. What will you watch?
LH: Taxi Driver.

TB: There are bunk beds inside the room. Who gets the other bed, and which bunk would you like?
LH: My girl or son gets the other bed. I get the bottom bunk. i need to pee lots. Nothing worse than climbing down the bunk ladder with stiff piss dick.

TB: You’re allowed 1 small treasured item. What is it?
H: A really sexy midget. That’d be a treasured item indeed.

TB: We’ve managed to get you a CD player. What album would you like?
LH: Abstract Rude – Showtyme

TB: We are willing to cook you 1 meal of your choice on your first night in The Bunker. What would you like?
LH: Shepards Pie

TB: All inhabitants of The Bunker MUST have their memories of Old Earth erased. However, we will allow you a single memory of your old life. What will it be?
LH: My kid say ‘daddy’ for the first time.

TB: We can project a view of your choice onto the Window Screen. What would you like to look at?
LH: Looking out over the Chesapeake Bay, where I grew up.

Greetings wary travellers. So I’ve finally succumb to the mysterious and self obsessed world of blogging and THIS is my blog (cue angelic trumpets). If eelus.com is the ‘Feature Presentation’, then Freak Show is the Bonus Disk, the oddities, rarities and general oddness that fills the inside of my mind and my day to day goings on.

I’ll try my best to update this blog as often as I can with everything from sketchbook pages, photos, videos, comic strips, interviews, film reviews, ufo sightings and whatever else seems like a good idea at the time. What’s that you say? You can’t be arsed with yet another overly self-indulgent blog?! I don’t blame you! But for those sorry souls who do buy my work and who are interested, then this site will give you a look at how my work starts and develops as well as where my ideas come from and everything in my life that inspires me to do what I do.

And so, like the terrifying first page of a brand new sketchbook, I now sit looking at this wondering…what next?!
