In The Bunker with Logan Hicks.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I have some extraordinary and terrible news. The city of New York awoke this morning to find a strange organic growth covering the city. The weed like organism is ginger in colour and seems to be very similar to human hair, although this is yet to be confirmed by the scientific community. The growth, already named ‘The Beard’, seems to be alive and autonomous, spreading through the city and covering everything that stands in it’s way. Those who have luckily managed to evade the clutches of ‘The Beard’ are fleeing the city for their lives whilst the unfortunate ones are consumed by the steady creeping of this bizarre monstrosity.

My sources have told me there is one man who may have answers to this extraordinary tragedy and he is now being questioned within the safe confines of the mysterious ’secret’ underground base, known by the conspiracy community simply as, ‘The Bunker’. This man is Logan Hicks.

What is there to say about Logan that has not already been covered in the countless interviews that are already online and in print. He has been a consistent force in the stencil art movement for many years, never stopping, never sleeping, like a shark with a scalpel and an unstoppable need to create and express himself. When the rest of the world is asleep, you can almost be guaranteed that Logan is awake, working, thinking, taking photos and exploring the urban world that surrounds him.

His trademark style of incredibly detailed cityscapes, rendered in otherworldly colours have proven to all that this man isn’t just talented, he also isn’t afraid to put the hours in, his stencils taking weeks to prepare and cut, (hence the very fitting moniker Workhorse). He was one of the original artists who inspired me to cut my first stencil and I feel very privileged to now consider him a friend.

In October I’ll be flying to Gambia with Logan and 6 other artists to transform some rural villages into an open air art exhibition titled Wide Open Walls. If you can’t wait that long for new work by Logan, a group show with Lister, Michael Kalish and himself opened last night at the Opera Gallery in NYC. Here’s a video of Logan giving us an insight into the work behind that show and the importance of finding your own space within your environment.

So here it is, Logan Hicks’s administration form for The Bunker. Enjoy.
